Yumi Araki is an award-winning journalist and producer with experience in video, podcasting, radio, print, and documentary film production—both in front of and behind the camera & mic.
She’s interested in the intersection of policy, culture, history, and its impact on people.
Career Highlights:
Yumi is currently the Managing Producer of Podcasts at America’s Test Kitchen where she produced the narrative podcast, Proof, and the Webby-nominated limited series 100 Proof. She currently produces the Netflix video podcasts The Side Dish and In the Test Kitchen.
In 2020, she reported and hosted the 4-part docuseries, Deciphering Japan for Channel News Asia, which was syndicated across public TV stations around the world and on YouTube.
Before that, Yumi ran the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ podcast program and produced and directed a 3-part docuseries on climate change solutions and a short documentary on the Space Force.
She got her start in radio as producer for NPR's On Point with Tom Ashbrook, a daily call-in news program, broadcasting to nearly 300 different partner stations across the nation.
Yumi also reported on foreign policy and the 2016 presidential transition for The Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan's largest daily newspaper.
